The Prep work
Before you can go ahead and apply the ceramic paint protection, one of the most important things you need to do is clean your vehicle thoroughly. Here is a four-step cleaning process that you need to follow.
Wash the vehicle: This is the first step where you will have to wash your car in two bucket method of washing. The main intent of washing your car is to remove any surface grime, dirt, and other major debris which can allow you to have a clean canvas to work on.
Clay bar treatment: The body surface is free of surface contaminants which can allow you to start with the clay bar treatment. A clay bar treatment is when a semi-hard bar of industrial-strength clay is used as a car wash soap to help clean any deeply penetrated dirt.
Polishing: Ceramic coat does not help improve the car paint, but it is designed to help ensure that the look of the preexisting paint is enhanced.
IPA wipe down: This is the final step of DIY ceramic coating prep work process which will allow you to remove any oils, lubricants, waxes, polishes, etc.
Apply the ceramic coating
Now that you have completed your preparation work, one of the first things you need to do is keep your car out of direct sunlight and reduce the surface temperature of the car. The ceramic coating generally applies better when the surface area of a car is perfectly clean and is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Here are a few things that you will need: Bottle of coating kit, an application sponge, application suede cloths, Gloves, microfiber buffing towel.
Apply the drops: Apply the drops on the towel and gentle massage on the clan surface of your car.
Wipe On: Try to change few clothes with every panel to keep everything coating well and wipe n small sections.
Buffing off: The final step of applying ceramic coating where you need to buff off the residue with a microfiber cloth.
The curing process
Hoe that you have applied the coating, it is important that you give your car time to sit and relax. Try to make sure that you are giving 24 to 48 hours to let cure and avoid any exposure to water.
Now that you have completed the process, it is your responsibility to keep the coating well maintained. Make sure to wash weekly, avoid direct sunlight, wash from top-down, use two buckets method and have separate soap.
